Created in excel, which most of us should be a snap at, this applicationĀ  is a piece of cake to customise.

Customizing your job application form:

This application was requested by a friend of mine for his new business. Although the template meets the need of what he was looking for in an employment application form, it may be adapted to suit your particular company needs.

Why would you need to customise this template? While doing my research on the requirements of a job application form, I came across some pointers that you might want to keep in mind, before you have any applicants fill out this form.

Employment law – illegal questions

Check your country’s employment law before you make the mistake of asking any illegal questions.

    Brand Management

Be aware your company’s brand management. Do you need to change this job application form to fit in with your company’s brand?

Add relevant questions pertaining to the job requirements

The job application form contains the most common information requested from any potential job applicant. However, in certain circumstances, you may need to gather particular information pertaining to a job. For example, if a job requires shift work. Or, if you require the job applicant to have a particular drivers liscense for driving a truck or heavy vehicle.

    Grouping relevant information

If you have added extra information to the job application form, remember to group the relevant information, thereby making it easier for both applicant and interviewer to use.

    Layout

We have arranged the various sections of questions in a particular order. Namely, position, personal information, personal references, education, work experience and last of all the declaration. You may wish to group these according to your own company’s needs.

For example, we placed ‘position’ first, as this was relevant to the company I designed this template for. Since they were a start-up company and were hiring quite a number of staff, they needed to organise the application forms by position.

Well, that is my two cents! Grab your job application form here. Any questions? Leave a comment below.
